Our Story
In Greece, 500,000 children
live at risk of poverty
We sought ways to help families in need directly, but soon realized that this was impossible to do.
So, we decided that we would create an organization that could access and help families directly ourselves. Thus, Πρώτα το Παιδί – Children First was founded in December 2019.
Our goal is to help reduce the inequalities faced by the most vulnerable members of society, children at risk of poverty or living below the poverty line, caused by the decade-long, ongoing financial crisis in Greece.
We work with families to help break the cycle of poverty
by investing in the well-being of their children via a holistic program that includes:

the provision of daily quality nutrition

educational courses, including after-school foreign-language courses and any additional academic tutoring needed by the child

extra-curricular activities, including team sports and capacity-building activities, as well as any activities that may explore the child’s interests or nurture potential talents

preventative and curative medical care programs, including vaccinations, dental programs, health assessments and medical examinations

coverage for occupational therapy, speech therapy, and special-education sessions where needed

counseling sessions to guide parents towards the best use of our services and to develop skills, competences and orientation to actively empower their children
